The story of the big picture (literally)

Today's layout is about the big picture, literally!

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of layouts featuring a big picture and I wanted to give that trend a go. The pinks in the Paper Camellia's February kit worked really well with a greyish black&white photo. Normally I use a lot of white space in my layouts. This layout was a challenge to me as there wasn’t a lot of empty space. That’s why I decided to keep the whole layout really simple and used only a small number of embellishments.

Those glitter stickers from Crate Paper were a pleasant surprise! I was worried that there would be glitter all over when I open the package, but that wasn’t the case. Those glitter accents were perfect to bring a little bling to this layout.

As the picture was so huge, I wanted to decorate it too a little bit. As there was an empty space on the top right corner, I cut some banners from the papers and added some hearts too.

The story of a sticker inspired layout

Yep, the starting point to this layout really was a sticker. One of the first things I was really drawn to in Paper Camellia's February kit was the boarder sticker from Crate Paper. It was graphic and somehow different.

I wanted to pair that boarder sticker with this mint heart paper. As the paper and sticker were placed vertically, I balanced the design by placing the title and embellishments horizontally. That wooden tag had a pink heart in the middle, but it was the wrong color for this layout, so I covered it with a sticker.

This layout is about a pretty young lady who really is a sweetheart! I think the paper choices in this layout and that boarder sticker really made this layout fresh and young!

Here is the mood board:

When I saw this mood board, I knew I needed to use one of our wedding pictures. The picture has the same green bokeh feel that this mood board has!

I just loved the flower paper from Amy Tangerine, so I decided to cut some flowers out of it! I really like how much the flowers brings to the layout!

CSI: Family

Today I just want to pop in quickly and share my latest layout that I made for CSI. The colors and the sketch are so inspiring, come play with us!

I wanted to create a layout about our family of two. Like the sticker on the layout says, we are better together.

Evidence: circles, paint
Testimony: Inspiration word "family"

Materials: American Crafts

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's day my friend!

This Valentine's day I wanted to remember my family and friends with these cute tags. Tags are fun to make! They can be used as cards or you can add them to a gift. You can even make a nice home decor banner out of them!

For these tags, I used the bits and pieces from Paper Camellia's February kit. These are super simple: just some papers layered, stickers and some stitching.

The story of a grid layout

Sometimes when I see a paper or product I know instantly what to do with it. For layout I wanted to use that lovely paint chip style paper from Crate Paper! It was so easy to create this layout by cutting the paper to pieces.

I balanced the layout using lighter and darker pink “paint chips”. I also wanted the texts to go well with the subject. Decorating the grid was so easy with the stickers and wood veneers that came in the kit! One of the paint chips had a text that didn’t suit the layout, but it was easy to cover with the flower sticker. To finish the layout, I added some machine stitching.

This layout came together so easily! Paper Camellia's kits are just perfect and so well put together that scrapbooking with them is super easy. Make sure you subscribe so that you won’t miss a kit!

The story of a diner experience

During our honeymoon, it was mainly my hubby who was always behind the camera taking pictures. So when I looked through the pics from that trip, this was one of the rare photos of him.

This was taken during our road trip in California, in a diner in some small town. In Finland, we don't have that kind of diners. If you are on the road, your options are McDonald's or gas stations (and the latter is normally pretty bad). For us, the american diners are pretty charming (at least the ones we have eaten in).  This particular diner was really a stereotype of a diner we had in mind: jukebox, vinyl chairs, basically the whole look! Loved it!

The story of finding washi tape

For some reason, I haven't used much washi tape in my layouts. I have so many rolls of it but I always just forget to use it. When I realized this, I decided that the first thing in my next layout will be washi tape! I really like how the tape stripes give dimension to the layout, not to mention the pop of color too! Maybe now I remember to use washi tape more often.

This layout is about our godson and how last autumn we went to a public playground with him. At the time he was only two years old, but he walked all the way to the playground by himself. It took a bit of time as the leaves, ducks and other interesting things needed to be looked at more carefully along the way :)

Paper Camellia's February reveal

It's February and Paper Camellia's new kit's has just been revealed! The kits are full of love and perfect for documenting your loved ones!

Check out the full reveal from Paper Camellia's blog!

Here is my first layout that I did with the main kit. In the kit there was this lovely text paper from Crate Paper. I was really inspired by the text "It's you. It's always been you." I instantly knew I needed to use the phrase as my title! This layout is really simple: just some paper, tags and black&white photo to balance the bigger title.

That photo is from our wedding day. That photoshoot was clearly very special for us, but I remember one thing especially: I just couldn't stop smiling.
